What is a high-frequency word?

A high-frequency word is a word that appears often in books. It is like the "glue" that holds sentences together. Children should work to build their high-frequency word vocabulary, so that they can fluenty read books and focus their eneregy on word-solving non-high-frequency words. High- frequency words should be easily read and should not be decoded.

How To Play

Have your child read the word. If they read the word correctly within 5 seconds, they can click the green check. If they read the word incorrectly OR don't read the word within 5 seconds, they can click the red X. Incorrect words will be listed and reviewed at the end of the game. Press "Start" to begin!
